Seoul Ballet Theatre was established in 1995 with
a vision to expand the dance community in Korea through unique productions catering to Korean tastes. With a passion unyielding to challenges, Seoul Ballet Theatre served as a pioneer in many respects, becoming the first dance company in Korea to successfully complete a long-term 40-day performance, and being the first to export productions to overseas dance companies. Seoul Ballet Theatre has already created a hundred original productions.

Through pieces such as "Alice in Wonderland", "Snow White", "Coppelia" and "Nutcracker", all created for the entire family, and "Ballet Bollet" where the audience participates in learning the basics of ballet, Seoul Ballet Theatre has led the way in the popularization of ballet in Korea. It has also firmly found its true color through artistically unique works such as "Being 1", "Being 2", "Being 3", "Life is...", "Four Seasons" and "Rage".

By touring not only in major cities such as Seoul, but also in smaller cities around the country, Seoul Ballet Theatre truly reaches out to the audience, while promoting rural cultural development by encouraging young residents of the area to take part in the performances.

In 2001, Seoul Ballet Theatre's choreographer, James Jeon became the first Korean choreographer to export his original work to the Nevada Ballet Theatre. In doing so, he paved the way in opening up overseas cultural markets, and is bringing international cultural exchange to a new level through numerous joint and gala performances.

There is no end to Seoul Ballet Theatre's creative development. In 2015, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" was re-created into an outdoor stage ballet performance, bringing the outdoor scenery together with the stage to create a new summer night fantasy. In 2015, Seoul Ballet Theatre celebrated its 20th anniversary and is still facing constant challenges as a pioneering Korean modern-day ballet company.
